The 100 Most Subscribed Canadian Youtubers

Who are the most subscribed Canadian Youtubers? Here is the list of those Canadian YouTube channels with the highest number of subscribers. It is probably no surprise that heading the list is Justin Bieber's kidraul channel given his huge fan base. Actually, the first 4 are all on the worldwide Top 100 Most Subscribed List.

1. kidraul - what needs to be said? Justin Bieber is by far the most subbed person on YouTube as far as Canadians go. He's number one in Canada and number 25 overall and closing in fast on Disney's JonasBrothersMusic channel and should pass them shortly - maybe in another 2 weeks or so.

2. jonlajoie - Another music guy. But Jon Lajoie makes music videos with his tongue firmly set in his cheek. I still watch his excellent WTF COLLECTIVE from time to time.

3. pyrobooby - If you don't know who Peter Chao is, you be missing out. He's known as The Chinese Guy on YouTube with a bit of a thick accent and massive attitude. Straight outta Vancouver, Chao has a bit of a potty mouth, but he can be very funny. He also has a new channel called The Chao Nation with a further 113,387 subs.

4. FLuffeeTalks - FLuffee has 278 videos to date, mostly of him sitting in front of his camera (wearing his black toque with "FLuffee" on it) and discussing oddball news items. Better than it sounds like actually. He's number 65 worldwide on YouTube and about to get his 400,000th sub. Has a 2nd channel ThisisFLuffee, with a further 89,529 subscribers.

5. trailers - as it's name suggests, um, trailers. This is the Official Viso Trailers channel. Good if you are looking for trailers.

6. charliejames1975 - This is primarily a fitness channel, but it's the thumbnails that will first catch your attention. Usually of the incredible Zuzana is a pose showing off her incredible body. You can watch Zuzana working out and then you realize that "Damn! That girl is in shape!" Just try to get through one of her workouts and you'll have new found respect for her.

7. jeyyounit11 - Jeydon Wale's channel. Not really my taste. One of those channel's where they do "outragous" stuff and act really goofy just for goofiness' sake. He does have 193K people subbed, so I guess there's an audience for this, but I'll pass. It's mostly for the much younger set and you'll see comments from the 11-yr-old girls about "how cute he is" which is a warning sign that you've ventured a step too far into the tween zone.

8. lisalavie1 - Talented singer Lisa Lavie's popular channel that highlights the Canadian singer's videos. She has had over 36 million views for her 48 (and counting) videos. Listed as the 2nd Most Subbed Canadian Musician. Get this girl a record deal!

9. TehNoobWorld - this is another one of those odd gamer channels where they use characters from a popular game, in this case Runescape, and make their own little story and do voiceovers. It gets old really fast unless you are fully immersed in the gamer world, but it seems that these dudes need to get out and gets into the sunlight and meet some chicks. Still, it's a highly popular channel with 169K subs. It's also affiliated with the massively popular gamers channel Machinima.

10. shimmycocopuffsss - Rounding out the Top 10 is Daniel Shim's channel. At first glance you'd think gay dude, but Shim says he's "just some random straight Asian guy who cares about fashion & looks as equally as a girl or more. Hey folks, it's called being metrosexual; Welcome to 2010." Shim also holds down the 61st spot with his 2nd channel ShimmyHeartsYou which has 49,779 subs.

That's the Top 10 for Canada, but there are a LOT of other equally good or better channels the further down the list.

I haven't had a chance to review all of these channels (laughandpeealittle? Really? I'll have to see what THAT is for a later post), but I am subbed to some of these. Vancouver native Nadine from Nayders07 has been one I've followed. She's currently working in New Zealand and travelling with a friend through Bali and China and posting interesting vlogs about her journey.

MrChaoNation is pyrobooby's 2nd channel (link is above). And just when you thought you had seen enough of Justin Bieber, there he is yet again, with a 2nd channel. The two at the bottom of the this list, Nanalew and DavidMeShow are just about to get there 100,000th subscribers, so check them out.

Number 51 is Emily Harder, another singer with talent that you might want to check out. I'm unfamilar with most of these channels but will start reviewing them shortly and will post here when I find something interesting. That is the list for Canada as of today. I'll update it each month and post on Bradshaw's Blog. Quite a few famous musicians at the bottom of the this (Bryan Adams and Celine Dion) which is sort of surprising. You'd think they would be far more subscribed. One massive fail as far as I'm concerned - nickelbacktv, a famous Canadian band and if Canadians go to their channel you get the following message: "This video contains content from WMG and EMI, one or more of whom have blocked it in your country on copywrite grounds" = FAIL!

As you can see, to make the Top 100 in Canada, you need to have more than 30,000 subscribers. There are lots of people who don't make that cut, but who are making great content and need to be seen.
