Sammah Lives! And He Is Going To The Disney Land Gathering March 5th

Image
For those of you wondering where Sammah has disappeared to, he is very much alive and well and he is going to the March 5, 2011 Disneyland Youtube gathering. I took a quick look and it says that the tickets for the event are sold out according to zingled.eventbrite.com , which means you should have been paying attention earlier. You can find out about upcoming Youtube gatherings in your area by following @YTGathering on Twitter - also I do update the discussion board over at the Bradshaw's Blog on Facebook page if you want to check there too: Bradshaw's Blog on Facebook . Sammah also mentions VidCon which is coming up quickly and it will be the big event of the summer. It takes place in L.A. in July and you can find info about it at the official website: vidcon2011.com . Here's a little more about the gathering at Disney Land (courtesy of Zingled ):

VidCon 2011 Baby!

It is approaching quicker than you think. The video below was just posted on the VidCon channel with some highlights from last year's first ever VidCon at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in L.A. You can go to the official VidCon 2011 website for all the info you will need. I also put together a little VidCon 2011 page of my own if you want to take a look. It links back to the main site too. It starts July 29th, so order your tickets now before they sell out like last year.

George Watsky: How Does That Pale Kid Rap So Fast?

Sometimes it seems I am the last one to find great videos it seems as the following video by George Watsky (aka gwatsky ) somehow slips past me. If you don't know who Watsky is, he's known more for his poems than rapping, but you wouldn't know it from this video. This kid is FAST! Listen to his flow: You go gay baby! I've been watching this over and over and yes I have tried to say it just like he does and failing miserably. How did I find out about this video? I was watching the latest from Hank Green of the vlogbrothers who made a valient attempt to copy Watsky's style (and did a fair job) but couldn't keep up. One think about Hank and his brother John is that they do highlight some cool stuff in their vlogs and who knows when I would have stumbled across Watsky's epic little clip? If you like poetry (or more specifically slam poetry) check out his channel. Here's the video by the vlogbrothers that tipped me off to George's video. In Hank...

TheWillofDC: Discusses The CES Youtube Superstar Panel

If you are not familiar with TheWillofDC , he does a Youtube show where he lists the "Winners and Losers" each week on the Top 100 (and was involved at VidCon 2010). In this video he talks about an article he wrote for tubefilter an online video news source. Will provided them with some articles in 2010 and they gave him a pass to the CES Conference happening now in Las Vegas where they unveil new tech stuff. What Will covered for tubefilter was the "Youtube Superstar Panel" which comprised Philip DeFranco, iJustine, Joe Penna (that would be MysteryGuitarMan to you and me) and Freddie Wong. All are highly successful youtubers who I gush about on this blog from time to time. Will goes through his article about the panel in the video below: I had noticed that several of the youtubers I stalk, follow, had made the trek over to Vegas (although I thought Phil had gone to Vegas with his guys to set his editor Matty up with hot babes: PhillyD Pimps Out Matty ) and I ...

Wheezy Waiter: A 2010 Retrospective

It looks like our bearded friend will be abandoning his comedic stylings for a more serious, sedate persona for the coming year, but at least we have this look back at All Things Wheezy Waiter from 2010: I don't know about you but I was with Wheezy (no, not in his apartment, I mean I was subscribed to his channel) back in the days when he was a carefree lad of 28-29 or so and still an actual waiter (NOW do you get his name?), long before the Internet fame, riches and film star hangers-on (like Scarlett Johansson). No, not me, I mean Wheezy. Sheesh, at least TRY to stay focused. As he mentioned in the video Wheezy started out the year with about 16,000 subscribers, without a worry in the world (well, except for maybe having Ty The Regular Guy hanging around) and he decided to start uploading videos every week day. At about that point his subscriber base started to take off and he did hit the magical 100,000 subscriber mark (you can find that video here: Wheezy Waiter Says Tha...

Some Youtube News: A Chinese Youtube Clone, Bieber Speaks To Fans And Some VidCon 2011 News

Chinese Youtube Company Called Youku Takes A Step Into The U.S. Market News just came out that a Chinese company called a "clone of Youtube" just had its initial public offering and the shares of the company shot up from what they expected to raise. What that means is there's a Chinese Youtube (called Youku.com - how clever) that is setting itself up to be in competition with Youtube. The company itself is comparatively tiny when you look at its numbers against Youtube's, but you have to remember that China is the 2nd largest Internet market in the world and if this company has little in the way of legitimate competition (think in terms of advertising dollars), it has, and will continue to grow by leaps and bounds, sucking in viewers in the far east and around the world. At that point it could pose a legitimate threat to Youtube's pre-eminence. That could take years, but you can bet the furrowed brows at Youtube HQ have noticed this new player in the game. ...

Wheezy Waiter Takes Toronto By Storm But Where's Shay?

Image
There was a Youtube Gathering in Toronto on November 16, 2010 and those Canadian fans of Wheezy Waiter were able to see him live and in person (unless that was actually a clone and original Wheezy stayed home). He does appear to be on Canadian soil as evidenced by the Celine Dion music playing when he rolls into view: It was good to see Wheezy made it to the gathering and giving fellow youtuber Corey Vidal a shout out in his video. Just to clarify, yes there was a War of 1812, yes, Canada and the U.S. fought each other (mostly to a standstill) and Ontario at the time was called the Province of Upper Canada, while Quebec was named Lower Canada. The States did invade and got whupped something fierce and the Canadians (not the hockey team) invaded Washington D.C. and torched the White House. After peace was declared (the treaty of Ghent: I knew that without looking it up), because it took so long to for news to travel, British troops landed and attacked New Orleans and got their b...
