Swiftkaratechop And thegr8stever Discuss Swifty's Youtuber Video

Image
I spotted these videos making the rounds and thought it would be a good idea to share it with those of you who might have read the Bradshaw's Blog post I wrote called Swiftkaratechop And The Youtuber Interaction Downgrade about Swifty's video. For better context, you might want to take a look at his video to fully understand what both guys are talking about in their videos. So, after watching swiftkaratechop 's video called "Youtuber", another youtuber decided he needed to respond to what he felt were the criticisms raised by Swifty. His name is thegr8stever and I haven't been following him although he is now on my radar. He has 33,411 subscribers which is, according to him, "a small youtuber" especially when compared to Swifty's much larger following on the website. Actually, let's let thegr8stever speak for himself. He posted the following video and then Swifty responded with one of his own and then another from thegr8stever. Jus...

YouTube Channel For Sale On Ebay? Um, That Would Be No

I heard about this story a while back where some idiot tried to sell their Youtube account on eBay for a tidy sum of money. The person had scammed his way into having a bunch of subscribers and then advertised that the channel had "lots of involved subscribers" and that you could continue to grow the channel as you saw fit. "Not one fake friend or bot" - yeah, RIGHT. Take a look at the following video by TheWillofDC that he posted back in March 2010 where he tells you how PeachofMeat and how he scammed his way to 170,000 subscribers using Facebook group tricks. Here's a followup about the eBay auction by MyVideosYourViews . There's another good response video by KalebNation over on his blog: kalebnation.com Of course after all this, PeachofMeat's channel is still active on Youtube so I'm guessing the one that was sold was a different one.

TheWillofDC: Discusses The CES Youtube Superstar Panel

If you are not familiar with TheWillofDC , he does a Youtube show where he lists the "Winners and Losers" each week on the Top 100 (and was involved at VidCon 2010). In this video he talks about an article he wrote for tubefilter an online video news source. Will provided them with some articles in 2010 and they gave him a pass to the CES Conference happening now in Las Vegas where they unveil new tech stuff. What Will covered for tubefilter was the "Youtube Superstar Panel" which comprised Philip DeFranco, iJustine, Joe Penna (that would be MysteryGuitarMan to you and me) and Freddie Wong. All are highly successful youtubers who I gush about on this blog from time to time. Will goes through his article about the panel in the video below: I had noticed that several of the youtubers I stalk, follow, had made the trek over to Vegas (although I thought Phil had gone to Vegas with his guys to set his editor Matty up with hot babes: PhillyD Pimps Out Matty ) and I ...

The Station Gives A Shout Out To 3 Under-Viewed Youtube Channels

Has it already been a week since The Station 's last "The Station Is Watching You"? Once again, we are met by our smiling Host with the Most, JoeFelice who features three channels that for whatever reason, haven't found their audiences yet - at least as far as having huge subscriber bases. Take a look: The first channel is brob444 (aka 22-year-old Brandon Robinson), the music channel reviewed by davedays . I agree with Joe when he was showing Dave this channel - heavily influenced by Dave's music, which is great, and with enormous listenability IMO. Plus, when you look at the older stuff Brandon has posted, you can see a lot of improvement musically as well as visually. Where will he be 6 months or a year down the line? I dunno, but it should be an interesting journey. The 2nd channel that "The Station Is Watching You" points us towards is from Kayl Johnson and the channel is thenewsyoushouldknow . I actually have been subbed to Kayl for a wh...

Meekakitty Goes Horseback Riding And Supernote Congrats

Looks like meekakitty went on a field trip out to the country a few days ago and went horseback riding. I don't know what the fascination is with hopping on the back of a horse. I haven't had the chance to go horseback riding in a long time but it is one of the things you really need to do once in a while, especially if you live in the big city like Tessa. Love the shots of the horses as well. After watching the video you may be wondering "Who was that holding the camera?" and after hearing a few comments from the cameraman, it is obviously Ray William Johnson of the Equals Three show. Tessa and Ray have been friends for some time and she (along with TheWillofDC who used to be Ray's roommate) appeared frequently in Ray's daily vlog BreakingNYC last year. The horses looked great, especially the little baby right at the end, It looked like Meekakitty knew what she was doing and seems to ride very well. It's good to see her doing videos out of the hou...

TheWillofDC: Winners & Losers Halloween 2010

I don't know about you, but as a regular viewer of TheWillofDC 's Winners & Losers I like how Will did this video rather than his other recent videos with the green screen. That said, there were some interesting developments in the rankings of the Top 100 Youtubers this week and Will lets us know what's what. The big winner this past week was DieAussenseiter a German YouTube channel that moved up from 80th to 77th place on the overall Top 100. "DieAussenseiter" translates into english as "The Outsider". This does show the growth of the international scope of YouTube and other channels using languages other than primarily English should take heart and receive some motivation to keep working to make more videos and channels in their native languages - there are audiences in every country that want great content in their own language. Below is a Halloween video from DieAussenseiter. DieAussenseiter is made up of two German brothers: Alexander ...

How Did Ray William Johnson Become So Popular On Youtube?

Image
One of the most popular people on Youtube is Ray William Johnson who is currently the 2nd most subscribed person on the website with over 2 million subs. He averages about 30,000 new subscribers every week! Ray's main channel (Equals 3 or =3) could eventually take over the Most Subscribed spot on YouTube from Ryan Higa (known as Nigahiga and he is closing in on his 3 millionth sub). According to Ray's main channel, this is what he says about himself: "I'm just a regular guy with an entertaining hobby. I review viral videos twice a week -- every Monday and Thursday. I'm paid to clean the urinals at the local strip club." Take a look at the growth in subscribers to Ray's channel: 06Sep 2009 145,938 27Sep 2009 205,179 25Oct 2009 258,900 22Nov 2009 358,303 14Feb 2010 803,977 18Mar 2010 1,000,000 28June 2010 1,500,000 25Sep 2010 2,000,000 18Oct 2010 2,115,547 How did that happen? And how can you do the same thing? Ray's channel suddenly appeared...

TheWillofDC: Mid-August 2010 ~ This Week's Winners & Losers

Just watched this video from TheWillofDC and was surprised he didn't mention that article about the youtubers allegedly making over $100,000 a year from YouTube. If you want to see my post about the article, check Article Out Says 10 YouTube Stars Making $100,000 A Year . Maybe Will will mention it on his YouTube News on Monday. As far as the info he provided, I am impressed by the 60,000 new subs that realannoyingorange got this past week. That is a major number! And why is a channel with about 500,000 not a YouTube partner?! I don't subscribe to jamesnintendonerd , but that has me intrigued. If anyone knows why they are not a partner, let me know in the comments.

Fighting False DMCA Claims

This is a good message from TheWillofDC about keeping an eye out for trolls and others who are just trying to disrupt the YouTube community. Apparently some viewers have been try to be mischievious and have submitted claims against various youtubers' videos and getting them taken down by pretending that their content has been stolen by the person who has posted the video. Pretty dumb guys. The act is known as The Digital Millennium Copyright Act (or DMCA for short) and it was passed around 1998 to "criminalize production and dissemination of technology, devices, or services intended to circumvent measures (commonly known as digital rights management or DRM) that control access to copyrighted works" according to Wikipedia. A couple of youtubers who have allegedly had their accounts suspended this way are chuggaconroy and nintendocaprisun. I'm not subbed to them so I am pretty sure I haven't watched their videos. Hopefully if they are falsely accused they wi...

TheWillofDC: YouTube Winners & Losers And Orange PJ Pants

Image
Will has been a busy guy for the last month or so with VidCon and other stuff, so he has to try to get all caught up in one video. The vlogbrothers get a much deserved shout out for finally breaking into the Top 100 Most Subscribed Youtube Channels Of All Time. This was a bounce from the phenomenal job that Hank & John Green did organizing VidCon. They received a lot of love from those able to attend. If you haven't subscribed to them you have been missing out. Do it NOW!! One of the surprising things I saw was that theStation2 , the Station's 2nd channel was poised to drop off the Top 100 list. They are sitting precariously at number 99 after dropping from 97 the week before. TheStation2 had 295,555 and went up to 303,735 - getting only 8,180 new subs. Since the 11th when those stats were reviewed, theStation has released midimafia 's catchy tune " Phamous " but have increased theStation2's sub base to 308,222, that's 4,487 more subs. Number 100 ...

Shaytards Q & A at VidCon In 3 Parts: Because Of The Extra Shay

Before the Shaytards come to answer questions, TheWillofDC lets us know the the vlogbrothers had just jumped up the alltime subscribers list into the top 100 (very long overdue IMHO). Then out trots The Beard That Walks Like A Man , Shay Carl , along with his hot wife, Katilette to answer some questions from VidCon attendees. These three videos were posted by SuperInternets who has many more VidCon videos of other big name Youtubers who spoke at VidCon (check out Phil DeFranco among others). The dude running around getting people's questions for Shay & Katilette is of course the one, the only, Mr KassemG , who does a great job. I of course only wish it could have gone on for a bit longer (That's what she said). What I really liked about this third clip is that Shay acknowledged one of my own favorite youtubers, Wheezy Waiter . Shay mentioned Wheezy having tweeted about being able to quit his fulltime job and just make videos as his job. That is AWESOME. I...

RayWilliamJohnson, Meekakitty & TheWillofDC Preparing For VidCon

I was stalking, er, going through some of RayWilliamJohnson 's old vlogs and found this interesting video where he, meekakitty , and TheWillofDC were sitting around a diner discussing VidCon, which is going on right now in L.A. This video was uploaded back in December 2009 on Ray's vlog channel called BreakingNYC . Johnson has uploaded about 105 or so daily vlog videos. If you are a fan of Ray's "Equals 3" show which is on 2 times a week you like this vlog too. He has almost half a million subs(!), which is pretty damn good. Unfortunately, on his most recent vlog called Babies! there is a big green box saying that because of everything else he's involved with, he's not going to be uploading any more videos to the BreakingNYC channel, but he's not going to abandon it. He will eventually start putting more videos up, but at a later date.

What's Happening On YouTube With John Nicholas

Here's another Youtuber vlogging about YouTube and what's catching people's attention. His name is John Nicholas and his channel is JohnNicholasYT . John currently has about 212 (including me. I just subbed) and has been on Youtube since December 2009. Nicholas usually posts a new vid about once a week pointing viewers to what is bubbling up in the youtube community. The clip above is about 2 weeks old, and he mentions The Trevor Project with an explanation of what that is all about. He also mentions the birth of Rocktard, newest castmember of the SHAYTARDS . If you haven't seen the video Shay Carl posted about the birth of their 4th tardlet, see Shaytards Clan Welcomes A New Member . One suggestion I have for John and his reviews. He needs to name each video differently. Each one (so far) seem to all be named "What's Happening On YouTube" and he should try to get an distinct name for his reports. If you check out TheWillofDC , he does a similar w...

TheWillofDC On This Week's Youtube Winners & Losers June 25, 2010

Definitely agree with TheWillofDC on this week's Winner and Loser: YouTube (BIG winner) and Viacom (booo! Massive loser). In case you are unaware of what this is about, Viacom lost its $1 billion lawsuit that they files against Google, which claimed that they should be responsible for material uploaded to YouTube that "infringed upon Viacom's copyright". The court ruled that Google is protected under 'safe harbour' as laid out in the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). Viacom will be appeal the decision, saying that it is "fundamentally flawed." Although the court's decision may be debateable, what's undeniable is that the ruling (if upheld at appeal) will set a major precedent for many other cases like it. There's more on the Viacom-Google Lawsuit here. Meanwhile back to the Winners/Losers, Will points out the once again RayWilliamJohnson leads the pack with 36,271 new subs. Also, there's a new face in the Top 100 as...

TheWillofDC: I Hate YouTube Spammers!

Thanks TheWillofDC for voicing what I have been thinking about the spam I have been getting on YouTube. Personally I haven't uploaded any videos myself and I have been getting messages on YouTube such as "Wow! Great video! Why haven't you been featured?" Blah, blah, freakin' blah. Maybe if you actually looked at my channel you'll see why I haven't had a video featured... because I haven't UPLOADED ANYTHING! At least look at the channels if you are going to try to contact people, dumb*ss. Spam is sooo annoying. Will also mentions something about YouTube's video editor which helps adding music to your clips. Below is a video to help you report spam to the powers that be at YouTube. Personally I like getting messages in my inbox. I'm just small fry as far as YouTubers go so messages to me are few and far between - does it sound like I'm begging for some youtuber love? lol. Most of what I get is unsolicited stuff like "Hey, chec...

TheWillofDC's Winners & Losers This Week

So who had the biggest gain in total subscribers this week? As usual it was RayWilliamJohnson with 33,920 new subs and followed by MysteryGuitarMan with 29,388. Nice to see that the SHAYTARDS are getting lots of views. One nice thing is that according to Will, my secret Internet girlfriend, ijustine , has joined the top 25 most subscribed of all time and has 622,983 subs. Will does these updates just about every friday, so sub to him if you want to keep up to date on who are the YouTube Winners & Losers for the week. He also does a monday show about YouTube news.

MysteryGuitarMan's "Magic Glasses" Just Posted

Image
I was just writing about MysterGuitarMan (aka Joe Penna) and his latest video called "Magic Glasses" just showed up on my YouTube dashboard. As always, imaginative stuff. He mentions DeStorm who he's colaberated with many times. Take a look at DeStorm as he's uploaded a ton of great music. TheWillofDC was going on about MGM's rapid rise in the overall ranks of YouTube (you can see that video here ), as MGM has leapt from the very bottom of the top 100 to his current position of number 13 and should have 1,000,000 subs fairly soon. If you like MysteryGuitarMan's music, make sure you subscribe to him - DeStorm too.

TheWillofDC On YouTube Back In 2008

Image
First off, TheWillofDC (aka William Hyde) isn't me, lol. He updates who is climbing the top 100 chart each week and who is slipping down the ranks. Will also talks VERY FAST, ala Michael Buckley (he used to do the "What The Buck" entertainment show on YouTube). Will would provide weekly updates of what was happening on the then relatively much smaller platform of YouTube way back in the OG days when there was no massive channels like PewDiePie or MrBeast and content creators had comparatively tiny numbers of subscribers. He stopped actively posting these informative videos around 2012 or so and I had watched regularly but I guess he decided it was time to move on. I think he worked at Maker Studios for a bit, but I'm unsure. Still, I was always a numbers guy and enjoyed seeing how many subs people had gained or lost. This video was posted in June 2010 but took a look back to June 2008, back when YouTube was just really beginning to explode. Real blasts from t...
