Under The Radar: 6 Musicians On Youtube You May Not Have Heard About

Here's another group of Youtubers who you may not know about, but probably should keep an eye on. Most have less than 50,000 subscribers, although some have 70K or so. Like many people on Youtube, I'm always looking for new music and this is a group of talented musicians. There are tons more that also deserve to be featured and I'll get to the all I promise. Well, maybe not all at once though.

Kate Laura McGill

Kate, known as katem3 on YouTube does her own songs as well as some covers. The video below is a cover of Cheryl Cole's Promise This and she also just uploaded another, Rihanna's Only Girl (In The World). You can go to her website at katemcgill.co.uk where she also has a blog (unfortunately not updated since August).

She's also going to be doing a tour of the UK and Europe in January and February 2011 with some tour dates in the U.S. during March 2011, but specifics need to be nailed down.

Where can you stalk her?

DJ BL3ND

Ladies and gentlemen, here comes DJ BL3ND. He now has 60K subscribers and he just added over 9,000 news subs this last month. Don't know what to make of the Chucky Doll look, but the tunage is great.

Check it over at MySpace: myspace.com/blendizzy and Facebook at facebook.com/pages/DJ-BLEND he's got 194K rabid fans on Facebook and if he turns them over to YouTube, you will be seeing him on the most viewed YouTube pages more and more. I think I'm going to have a few nightmares after watching this guy.

Dance, Lil Freakboy, Dance! lol. I know what your thinking "WTF did I just watch?" This channel is getting MASSIVE views, with almost every video he's uploaded getting over a million views each. One called Electro House 2010 (CLUB MIX) DJ BL3ND has 16 million views and climbing! Gotta admit that track's hypnotic.

Sam Koster

Straight outta Australia is Sam Koster with his band theblackyear, who have 56,885 subscribers, putting them 12th most subscribed in Australia. Their band is currently unsigned and according to Koster's channel, they formed back when he was 10 years and recorded his first album at the age of 12. What were you doing at 12? I was still working on tying my shoelaces and this guy was cutting a record? They have 3 years worth of videos on YouTube, so check them out. Also, they have some of their stuff over on iTunes: The Blaqk Year

You can stalk the band on MySpace: myspace.com/theblaqkyear

Here's the band:
Sam Koster: Songwriter, Lead Guitarist, Performer, Composer
Stephen Reinhart: Lead Guitar, Songwriter
Matt Santos: Bass Guitarist, Performer, Backing Vocals

17586063

This is a confusing channel. The music is incredible, that we can all agree on, but...

This channel (named the enigmatic 17586063), is from Japan where it is the 14th most subbed in the country, and they have 52,844 subscribers. The guitar playing will definitely blow you away.

This person just uploaded a great version of Panama a short time ago, but Youtube removed it - YOU CAN FIND IT HERE: 17586063 Doing Van Halen's Panama.

Too many conflicting thoughts... excellent guitar work. Is this a hot guitar-playing chick? Or a dude in a dress? Do those look like "man hands"? Even if this is a dude or a woman - Epic.Playing.Skills.

Jessie L

Jessie has 52,722 subs, but after hearing him, you will probably agree he should have more. His JesseGuitar07 is the 14th most subscribed in Australia and he is the 6th most subscribed musician as well. You can stalk him on Twitter @jesseguitar

His website is jesseguitar.com. he's playing a sweet version of Since We Met by Tommy Emmanuel on a Maton EBG 808 Artist. And if this isn't to your taste, he does a great electric cover of Joe Satriani's Surfing with the Alien and Michael Jackson's Beat it solo on guitar.

Shayne Orok

Shayne Orok goes by the name elshaynez and hails from Ottawa Ontario. He currently has 49,486 subs and unsigned. 18 years old and going to college in Toronto. New song called "Don't Pick Up" is available from iTunes. I liked the preview at the end of the video below - he has a somewhat unique singing style that catches your ear pretty quickly.

You can also find him over on MySpace: MYSPACE: myspace.com/shayneorok and on Twitter TWITTER: @shayneorok. Shayne can also be found on Facebook at FACEBOOK: facebook.com/pages/Shayne-Orok where his page has over 18,000 fans.

Like I said, there's a lot more where this list came from and not just musicians. The amount of talented people on Youtube is immense given the number of members the website now has and I for cannot check all of them myself, so you need to prowl around and look for others that need more exposure (not exposure like Kanye on MySpace exposure, but you get the idea).

If you know of anyone on Youtube, feel free to leave a comment below if you think they should be featured here. They don't have to be musicians, I'm always looking for great channels and interesting people.
