This is just a list of the Top 25 YouTube Channels for the week of June 6th, 2010. I'll be expanding on this down the line and mentioning those a little further down the rankings in future posts. As you can see nigahiga remains the top dog with 2,319,983 subscribers. He's the only Youtuber to crack the two million subscriber mark so far. His latest video Dude vs. Wild - The Desert was just uploaded about 4 days ago. It's pretty doubtful that Fred will ever catch him and re-take the number one spot he held for quite a while, but Shane Dawson might. What you don't know who Shane Dawson is? You living under a rock or what? Shane actually has two channels in the top ten. Smosh is still right up there at the top in 4th spot. They've been in the top ten for years.
Next up is RayWilliamJohnson of course with his =3 vids which come out every monday & thursday. Ray had "only" 567,443 subscribers just this past January, but has been rocketing up the chart for over a year and currently sits in 5th with 1,395,890 subs. Seems like Mr Johnson came from no where, but if you're a regular viewer you know why. The rest of the top 10 include Phil DeFranco aka SXEphil, PhillyD with his main channel sxephil. Phil was one of the first Youtube dudes I followed when I joined YouTube and remains one of the top dawgs and always produces chuckles. Then there's universalmusicgroup, but I don't really follow them that much. I'm subbed to them, but they're a touch too corporate IMHO and just pop out videos by their various contracted artists.
machinima is primarily gamer's channel. I rarely play video games (just too busy man), but they do contribute lots of great videos. If you have even a passing interest in gaming, check them out. In 9th spot is ShaneDawsonTV2 which is (obviously) Shane Dawson's 2nd channel. And in the number ten spot is davedays who has tons of videos of him banging his guitar. Dave is known for his green shirt and for having a mild Miley Cyrus fetish. Good tunes Dave.
All of the top 10 have at least one million subs each which is an incredible feat. If you look back, I'm pretty sure only Fred had 1,000,000 subs just a couple of years ago and now you need that just to make the top ten subscriber list. And nigahiga is right now the only one with 2 million (and looking at three, probably in another year or so).
Still lots more in just the top 25 to look at. There's kevjumba, MysteryGuitarMan and VenetianPrincess. MysteryGuitarMan makes his own brand of music and has been just shredding the top 100. It was about a year ago (I think) he entered the top 100 and now man in the shades is being followed by over 900,000 youtubers. VenetianPrincess is just yummy. She's the most followed woman on YouTube and mostly puts out takeoffs of famous celebs. She's one of those truly hot females that you will watch no matter what she says or does - but what she says and does is funny and smart, so she's got a nice package of talent.
Then, of course, there's Mr Michael Buckley of WHATTHEBUCKSHOW. He talks a mile a minute and is usually right up to date on what the celebs are up to and the latest television news. Buckley is a one-man show as he writes, hosts, edits, shakes & bakes all his material. He's about to get Lasik surgery and will post vids about the procedure. I don't know if he plans on showing the actual work being done on his eyes (don't wanna see actual surgery).
One of my FAVORITE Youtubers has to be communitychannel. I love how Natalie starts every video with a big "Hi!" Really funny woman from Australia who always surprises me with her quirky sense of humor. Plus, being a cute girl with a sexy Australian accent doesn't hurt. Just favorited one of her recent videos called The Call (read description) where she questions those late night commercials where you can talk to "sexy girls who are just waiting by the phone."
Rounding out the top 25 are KassemG, kidrauhl and expertvillage. Kassem does a lot of "man in the street" type interviews which are pretty good. Amazing what the good folks in Cali will say when Kassem thrusts a mike in their face. Then there's kidrauhl who's better known to the masses as Justin Bieber. This is Bieber's Youtube channel where he got his start before the fever that is Bieber engulfed the world. The expertvillage channel provides videos "from trusted sources to provide answers to your everyday questions." Not really following them at this point. Their latest vid is about an "India rose luxurious skin oil recipe" and I think one of the women has been on one of the soap operas (I recognize her from somewhere anyway).
Of course beyond the top 25 there's TONS of other great youtubers for you to follow. One who will likely join the top 25 is ijustine (or my secret Internet girlfriend as I prefer to call her). Justine is just out of the top 25 and currently sits in the number 27 spot with over 600,000 devoted fans. You'll get totally sucked into iJ's world first because she's just totally gorgeous (recently named one of Maxim's Top 100 Women of 2010), but get past her being pretty. Yes, she's very cute. I think she's cute and you think she's cute. Now let's move on. She's totally goofy and fun. I always check out her latest videos, whether she's dancing at an Apple Store, singing or providing answers to questions posed to her from anywhere on the Internet, she's sure to raise a smile.
Also there's the beard that walks like a man: shaycarl he's the leader of the Shaytards pack. They just had a baby a short time ago and here's a link to the that video. Shay is just nuts but in a good way lol. He puts out a vlog just about every day and I always enjoy seeing what shenanigans the Shaytards are up to.
So many Youtubers out there. I can't link to them all in one post, but if I could I would.
