TheWillofDC On YouTube Back In 2008
First off, TheWillofDC (aka William Hyde) isn't me, lol. He updates who is climbing the top 100 chart each week and who is slipping down the ranks. Will also talks VERY FAST, ala Michael Buckley (he used to do the "What The Buck" entertainment show on YouTube).
Will would provide weekly updates of what was happening on the then relatively much smaller platform of YouTube way back in the OG days when there was no massive channels like PewDiePie or MrBeast and content creators had comparatively tiny numbers of subscribers.
He stopped actively posting these informative videos around 2012 or so and I had watched regularly but I guess he decided it was time to move on. I think he worked at Maker Studios for a bit, but I'm unsure. Still, I was always a numbers guy and enjoyed seeing how many subs people had gained or lost.
This video was posted in June 2010 but took a look back to June 2008, back when YouTube was just really beginning to explode.
Real blasts from the past as Will drops the Top 20 Most Subscribed with channels like Smosh who was the most subscribed YouTube channel in June of 2008 with a mere 387K subs and the 20th was TheWineCone who had 97,000 subscribers. Smosh is still around although it has morphed into a behemoth boasting almost 27 million subs.
YouTube was so small back then!
