One of the most often named inspirations that many top youtubers mention when asked who got them doing this vlogging thing on Youtube is Ze Frank. He was right there at the beginning and I've heard the vlogbrothers, Wheezy Waiter and Philip DeFranco give kudos to Ze Frank and his old show called "The Show" which you can find archived at his website (zefrank.com).
Here he is being interviewed by the yummy Shira Lazar from Partners Project at VidCon.
If you are unfamiliar with Ze Frank's stuff, go to his website and see what all the fuss is about. He's a true pioneer on online content. Actually watch the video below from VidCon where Philip DeFranco does a panel and he mentions how he was watching Ze Frank and when "The Show" ended there was a big void in his life and that was one of the factors that prompted him to start uploading more videos (it's worked out nicely for him!).
