Sing With Emma Today Reacting To In Your Eyes (Live Version)
I don't usually endorse music reaction videos, but this one struck a chord with me, firstly because I've always loved the song reviewed here, but also, its a live version that is being reacted to by Sing With Emma Today whose channel I've decided to subscribe to after watching this video and several others she's posted.
So let's take a listen to the song is the beautiful "In Your Eyes" by the amazing singer Peter Gabriel (that's a link to his YouTube channel that you might want to check out) and see how Emma responds.
To me, the song evokes feelings of joy that seems to connect with the live audience, almost with a chantlike vibe. The music itself has a dreamlike quality combined with Gabriel's seemingly effortless delivery and Emma appeared to be appreciative of his vocal talents and his fellow band members.
His singing, when accompanied with the jumping and hopping style of dancing all of them perform is definitely fun to watch but difficult to do especially live on stage.
Movement, when paired with vocalizing at the same time, is hard to do and the large audience obviously were digging the performance as was Emma as she watched.
One thing many of those reacting to music videos, TV or movies sometimes stop the video too much or include boring chatter, but I did not find Emma's comments boring or inane. She seemed to find genuine insight to what she was watching/listening to when she did pause the video, and signaled to her viewers portions of the song that interested her with excited gestures or her eyes.
Many times I find reactors stop what they're watching too many times to jump in, disrupting the flow, but Emma seemed to know to pause between vocal phrases or just the right parts of the song to give her interpretation of what she was enjoying about what was happening without stepping on the performance.
Her comments were not intrusive, or lengthy breaks that might lessen one's enjoyment of the video. As I said, she seems to know her stuff, musically, which is refreshing.
She seemed surprised when the female singer piped up and added a nice contrast to Gabriel's voice. If you don't know, she is Paula Cole, an accomplished singer in her own right. She has been in a nice jazz group I've heard named The Paula Cole Trio.
I'm not exactly a jazz afficionado or anything but I know she's a solid performer who has got the chops. As a sidenote, I've read that Cole was filling in for Sinéad O'Connor who was supposed to have been on this tour, but couldn't do it, so Paula Cole ably stepped up and did a bang up job.
I noticed that Emma has done a reaction to Sinéad O'Connor's iconic hit song "Nothing Compares 2 U" which came out in early 1990 (and written by the one and only Prince of course, but you probably knew that). But here's Emma reacting to Sinéad's stunning vocals on "Nothing Compares 2 U", which she posted around late Jan-early Feb 2025. This song ALWAYS deserves a listen.
Another banger of a song. If you've never heard this song before (how? HOW?!) you need to listen to this rendition of a song that O'Connor delivers like a painful, haunting snapshot of someone with crushed feelings of love mixed with plaintive sadness and regret.
I like at the start, Emma looks like she wants to jump in to say how much she likes Sinéad's voice and wants to mention the sadness she seems to be exposing, almost like an open wound, but cannot bring herself to interrupt the singer. Needless to say, I like the song and the performer draws you in with the emotional closeup.
But I could go on and on about how much I like this song, there are others you should listen to, especially if you are unfamiliar when some of them. So far, as of June 2025, Emma has posted almost 150 videos reacting to many artists and songs you may know intimately and others you may not have heard before. She does a good job highlighting their good points and their bad. That's why I'm posting these here today to give you a taste of what is available on her channel.
I'm subscribed now and recommend you take a deeper dive into what she posts. Maybe you'll find a new "old song" or artist that strikes the right chord with you too.
