JJJacksfilms Smells Spam In DangMattSmith's Video
I don't know if you're familar with the videos of JJJacksfilms but I've been following him for a long time. Not "stalkerishly" following him, because that's behavior that's frowned upon. (Note: if you know what I'm talking about, you know).
But I've watched his stuff on his main channel ever since he used to upload videos to bitchslap YouTube commentators for poor grammar or spelling and later I enjoyed his lengthy series (over 500 videos!) called "YIAY" (as in Yesterday I Asked You...) where he would post a video showing viewers' commented responses to whatever question he asked at the end of the previous day's YIAY video. Honestly good content paired with viewers' interaction which should be one of the goals of any good youtuber.
But fluffing up Jack's ego isn't why I'm posting this. This is because he posts videos on this side channel and I wanted to highlight the video below which he uploaded today.
It is on JJJacksfilms because on this channel he skewers many subpar youtubers ("cough, cough" like SSSniperWolf for example), big or small, who "borrow" content to "react" to, from platforms like TikTok or use others YouTube Shorts, usually without any link or acknowledge going to the origin content creators while slapping on monetization, thereby pocketing tons of moola.
Also, Jack watches out for... let's call it "content that appears to smell a little spammy". And this one kinda reeks. I'd say this content falls into Jack's wheelhouse.
The video here appears to even the most untrained eye to be spam. The video alone doesn't seem ""spammy". Kinda gross? Yes, and not really what I'd (as a somewhat discerning viewer) search for, but my own tastes are my own and who am I to "tut, tut" and give the stink eye to regular viewers of DangMattSmith? The guy has amassed 15 million subscribers with this type of content so who am I (or Jack for that matter) to criticize Matt?
Well... Jack points out the problem. Spam, spam, spam (insert Monty Python reference here if you know what I'm referencing. If you don't know about Monty Python, you need to Google the heck out of "Monty Python", "Holy Grail", "Life Of Brian", etc). But back to DangMattSmith's video and and take a look at Jack's review of the latest version of Matt's "Largest Booger" evergreen content.
JJJacksfilms Reviews DangMattSmith's Booger Video (version 5?)
Here's the video followed by some complaints about the content.
Multiple uploads of the same, exact video, over and over and over again? With nary a change made to make the content fresh? If you look at all the videos he's posted, you'll see many examples of this behavior going back months. Jack points out in his video, three individual videos on Matt's channel that are reuploaded, unchanged, again and again. And you'll see so many repeats.
Dunno if that's a violation of the YouTube TOS, but not a good look. Hopefully Matt will curb his errant behavior but I'm surprised his audience hasn't called him out on it yet.
What about that other video Jack mentioned where he took a bit of a deep dive into DangMattSmith's content? He posted that back 6 months ago (late Dec 2024-early Jan 2025 or so). That video is below. More recycling of the same content. How is it that no one comments on the video that they saw this same stuff from Matt before? Does he remove or censor those comments? Again, how and why does YouTube allow a huge youtuber to basically spam the platform over and over?
Sensing a similar theme here. Same thumbnails. Same content. Got it.
Has any one seen any sort of reply or comment from Matt about the repetitive content? I took a quick look at the video's comment sections and most viewers are gushing about how awesome he is or that they've watch his stuff for years (yeah, you probably saw the same video years ago too).
Let's Take A Look At JJJacksfilms' Other Videos
If you want to see other videos by Jack where he reviews the work of youtubers reacting to TikToks, Shorts and the like, he has posted 128 (as of today), similar to the one below where he calls out another big "content creator", this time ItsFrankyBoi who it seems, has given up on posting longform videos over a year ago, for that sweet, sweet "reacting to other's shorts and TikToks content" and money too.
Jack's content does give credit to whomever actually posted these videos by linking their individual channels downstairs in the dooblydoo which is a far cry from what most of the larger creators seem willing to do. As an added bonus, lately Jack has added his Lil buddy, "ReactBot", who he usually turns to for more incisive responses than what passes for an actual reaction from the person "borrowing" the real uploader's content.
Also Jack makes it into a bingo game for his viewers watching on his Twitch Stream where he hosts a stream most Friday nights if you want to check that out.
So, why does Jack always seem so up in arms about what he feels is the nefarious conduct of these so-called reactors? I'll probably post something on this blog about why he exhibits a distaste for one in particular (SSSniperWolf) although there are lots who do deserve being called out for their behavior online. Watch his channels on YouTube and Twitch for more but mostly its for any number of reasons.
Most of their "reactions" don't appear to be TRANSFORMATIVE in the slightest, which is one of the fundamental aspects of Fair Use which is one of the major reasons content creators are allowed use the intellectual property content of others and allows them to profit from the work.
Most reactors responses seem to be limited to a quick chuckle or guffaw, or reading what the originator wrote on the screen or summarizing what is happening during the clip. Some blurt out an inane comment like "What is he doing?" or "Didn't see THAT coming!"
This is NOT transformative.
Some might say "Hey Bradshaw. Aren't you doing the same thing to Jackfilms' content? Using his videos above without his consent."
Well, in a word, no. If you watch the videos on this post (or any of the others on this blog) the video's creator, Jack in this case, gets full credit and I can't monetize any of the views them receive. All views and or ad revenue automatically goes to the person or persons who uploaded the video, so I guess you could say that this blog post transforms it and the blog has it's own traffic which can (hopefully) augment the view counts of the various creators.
Some people want to read what I have to say (you people have weird taste I guess) and some discover new Youtubers, new TikTokers and new Twitch streamers through this blog. That reads like I'm tooting my own horn, but I have opinions to share and videos I've enjoyed that I'd like others to see.
More to come.
